We commonly get asked 'How do I dry my horses wet hooves to apply Hoof Beehave?' Let's face it, if you're applying Hoof Beehave, chances are the conditions are already soggy. If you're without a stable or somewhere dry, here's a quick and easy method to drying out hooves before applying your trusty Hoof Beehave!
Why does the hoof need to be dry?
Firstly, the hoof needs to be dry as Hoof Beehave is an oil-based product meaning water will repel it. It's important to ensure the hoof is dry when applying the product to get the most out of an application. Conversely, when applied dry, Hoof Beehave is great at repelling water in muddy conditions!
How to dry a wet hoof:
- Clean out your horse's hooves with a hoof pick ensuring to brush out any debris.
- Pinch a packet of corn flour from the kitchen and liberally dust onto the hoof.
Farrier pro tip: Repurpose a squeeze sauce bottle as a corn flour applicator - it's much easier than dusting the hoof from a packet. - Using the brush end of a hoof pick brush out the corn flour (shown in picture below) and just like that your hoof is dry!

- Finally apply Hoof Beehave using your fingers or applicators.
