Our top 3 tips to make your leather last

As equestrians we spend a small fortune on leather gear from boots and chaps to saddles and bridles. It's a no wonder we want to ensure we get the maximum use out of our trusty leather gear. We've made leather care simple with our Top 3 Tips:
  1. The once over after every use: Always ensure you remove any obvious dirt and debris build up on your leather after each use. A soft brush or cloth can be used to brush or wipe down leather of noticeable sweat and dirt. We also recommend using stirrup covers for your stirrups to prevent dirt trapped in the tread from transferring to your saddle flaps and seat.
  2. Keep it cleaned and conditioned: Regularly clean and condition your leather gear to prevent build up of dirt and residue, which can cause the leather to crack and fade. Use a high-quality leather cleaner and conditioner (we have just the one!) specifically designed for your type of leather.

  3. Store it properly: When not in use, store your leather gear in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, dryness, and cracking.  Avoid storing it in humid areas, which can cause mould and mildew to grow on the leather. We also recommend using a saddle/bridle/boot bag to ensure your gear remains free of dust.

Follow these three simple tips to get the most life out of your leather gear.

Happy riding!
